Director of Sales

Reports To: General Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Director of Sales is responsible for selling hotel rooms and meeting rooms through direct client contact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for solicitation efforts while overseeing rate, date and space. Negotiate, organize and coordinate group block and meeting space agreements, along with associated administrative tasks
  • Complete administration of all sales, promotional activities, advertising and marketing efforts
  • Develop, implement and achieve annual business and market plan objectives
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activities and performance to ensure goals are met or exceeded
  • Maintain personal and phone contact with key accounts to maintain total and complete sensitivity to customer satisfaction and needs. Maintain accurate records of all sales calls, correspondence and client contact
  • Direct solicitation efforts by personal sales calls, emails, site inspections and telephone sales calls
  • Use revenue maximization strategies when organizing and negotiating rate, date and space commitments for group room sales of the property
  • Staff meeting participation with appropriate input
  • Attend meetings and report to management company
  • Prepare reports pertaining to Sales and Marketing and review to discuss or implement sales strategy
  • Continue ongoing research of the travel industry local and national market to prospect and gain corporate accounts
  • Participate in hotel Brand marketing initiatives and create awareness of the resources available through the brand to maximize revenues and exposure
  • Communicate with Brand national sales force and use RFP tools provided by Brand to obtain national sales accounts
  • Ensure the completion of sales reports
  • Ensure that hotel content and images are up to date and the hotel is presented appropriately online
  • Be familiar with competitor hotels and maintain research on their mix of business, promotions, etc.
  • Use of the electronic sales database system is necessary to maintain accuracy of client detail and to complete tasks efficiently
  • Prepare expense reports for all out-of-pocket expenses
  • Prepare activity and productivity reports, and monthly statistical reports assigned by the General Manager or Corporate
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management including assisting other departments with limited managerial staff, as requested

REVENUE MANAGEMENT

  • Attend Revenue Management conference calls/meetings
  • Provide strategic revenue management plans within the hotel to include: rate development, establishment of group thresholds, meeting space utilization
  • Ensure effective utilization of PMS and Brand revenue management tools and resources to maximize revenue contribution from all segments
  • Establish High Demand Dates and work with General Manager on appropriate rate levels and inventory for such dates
  • Monitor Wholesale Internet Sites and Brand Site for accuracy of content, photos and online presence

REQUIREMENTS

  • Hotel Sales Management Experience
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills required to communicate with clients, guests and team members
  • Highly motivated to exceed revenue goals and complete sales activities
  • Effective leader with a positive attitude
  • Experience with Sales System/Database
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Sharp computer skills for email communication, documentation, completing reports, monitoring social media and use of Brand portal
  • Local travel required for sales calls, networking
  • Marriott systems knowledge preferable, but not required
  • Professional business attire and appearance required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Hotel Marketing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Hotel Sales Management: 1 year (Required)
