Position Title: Director of Social Services – Mississippi Region (Hybrid/remote work for Tupelo, Starkville, Meridian and Oxford locations)

Position Summary:
The Director of Social Services – Mississippi Region provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and supervisory support for Social Services programs across Five Horizons Health Services’ Mississippi locations. This position ensures high-quality, client-centered services that align with the mission of Five Horizons Health Services and the standards of the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), Ryan White Part B, and other applicable funding sources.
The Director oversees departmental operations, staff development, compliance, quality improvement initiatives, program performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve client outcomes and continuity of care throughout the region. This role works closely with medical, behavioral health, prevention and outreach, finance, and leadership teams to ensure coordinated, efficient, and compliant service delivery.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance oversight for Social Services staff.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and client-centered care.
- Conduct regular supervision sessions, team meetings, performance evaluations, and coaching opportunities.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, staff retention, and professional development planning.
- Address staff concerns, workflow issues, and operational barriers in a timely and solution-focused manner.
- Ensure equitable workload distribution and effective caseload management across the Mississippi region.
- Program Operations & Service Delivery
- Oversee day-to-day Social Services operations for Mississippi sites.
- Ensure timely coordination and delivery of supportive services, including case management, transportation, housing assistance, food assistance, referrals, and linkage to care services.
- Collaborate with medical and behavioral health teams to improve retention in care and reduce barriers to treatment.
- Ensure continuity of services and coverage across all assigned locations.
- Assist with development and implementation of departmental workflows, procedures, and operational standards.
- Maintain working knowledge of Ryan White Part B requirements, MSDH expectations, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Ensure compliance with payor-of-last-resort requirements, eligibility verification standards, and documentation expectations.
- Monitor program activities to ensure adherence to HRSA, Ryan White, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Support reporting requirements related to Ryan White programs, MSDH initiatives, quality measures, and grant deliverables.
- Participate in monitoring activities, audits, chart reviews, and corrective action planning as needed.
- Collaborate with Quality and Compliance teams to identify trends, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Review documentation, assessments, and service records to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Develop and monitor departmental performance indicators and quality metrics.
- Implement corrective strategies and workflow improvements when deficiencies are identified.
- Maintain productive working relationships with internal departments and external community partners.
- Collaborate with MSDH representatives, referral partners, housing agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen service coordination.
- Participate in leadership meetings, committees, training, and organizational initiatives.
- Assist with strategic planning and program development efforts for the Mississippi region.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation, reports, and data collection activities.
- Monitor compliance with electronic medical record documentation standards and timelines.
- Assist with grant reporting, program summaries, and data requests assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Additional Duties
- Participate in training and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of regulations, best practices, and funding requirements.
- Provide direct client support or operational assistance during staffing shortages or emergency situations as needed.
- Perform additional duties or special projects assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s (preferred) degree in social work, Human Services, or related field required.
- Licensure at the appropriate level through Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapists, preferred (License eligible candidates may be considered depending on experience).
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Experience in medical social work, public health, HIV services, Ryan White programming, or community-based services, preferred.
- Experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) systems and processes preferred.
- Working knowledge of Ryan White Part B program requirements and compliance expectations preferred.
- Knowledge of case management principles, eligibility requirements, and supportive service coordination.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record systems.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use.
- Occasional lifting of supplies or materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel between regional locations as needed.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
