Director of Visual Storytelling

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Visual Storytelling leads the creation of short-form video content that highlights the real-life impact of WestCare’s programs and services. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, this role focuses on producing compelling advocacy and testimonial videos that demonstrate how WestCare programs positively affect individuals, families, and communities.

These videos will primarily feature clients, staff, and community partners who can share how WestCare’s services are making a difference. The content will support public awareness, advocacy efforts, and engagement with community leaders, policymakers, funders, and stakeholders.

This position will collaborate closely with Marketing & Communications leadership and regional program teams to identify stories that showcase the impact of funding and services. Many interviews and recordings will be conducted remotely using platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom to efficiently capture authentic stories from across WestCare’s service regions.

Essential Job Functions are below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Advocacy and Impact Storytelling

  • Produce short-form advocacy videos highlighting how WestCare programs benefit individuals and communities
  • Capture testimonial-style interviews with clients, staff, and community partners that demonstrate program outcomes and impact
  • Develop approximately 60–90 second video segments that can be shared with elected officials, community leaders, and stakeholders
  • Create videos that help educate policymakers and their staff about the importance of WestCare programs and services
  • Support regional storytelling that illustrates how funding and services improve outcomes in local communities

Video Production and Editing

  • Plan, record, and edit short-form video content designed for digital communication and advocacy
  • Conduct remote video interviews using platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom when appropriate
  • Edit and package video segments that clearly and effectively communicate program impact
  • Develop visual content suitable for email outreach, presentations, social media, and digital communications
  • Ensure videos are concise, engaging, and aligned with WestCare’s messaging and brand standards

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications to identify key storytelling opportunities across regions
  • Collaborate with regional leadership and program staff to identify individuals willing to share their experiences
  • Support organizational advocacy, awareness, and outreach initiatives through video storytelling
  • Assist in developing video content that highlights the value and impact of WestCare programs to funders and stakeholders

Technical and Operational Support

  • Manage video editing tools and production software used to develop advocacy content
  • Organize and maintain a digital library of video assets and recordings
  • Ensure appropriate consent and privacy protocols are followed when capturing and sharing stories
  • Stay current with video production tools and techniques that support efficient remote storytelling.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated portfolio of video content or storytelling work
  • Proficiency in video editing software and digital production tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing advocacy, testimonial, or mission-driven storytelling content
  • Experience working with nonprofit, healthcare, or social services organizations
  • Experience producing short-form video content for digital platforms

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong storytelling ability and creative vision
  • Ability to translate program impact into clear and compelling video narratives
  • Excellent video editing and digital media skills
  • Ability to conduct interviews that capture authentic and impactful stories
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Commitment to WestCare’s mission and Shared Principles
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a successful background clearance.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test, if applicable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media Arts, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in video production, multimedia storytelling, or digital media.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Not applicable for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in an office or remote setting.
