Position Overview
We are seeking a results-oriented Director of Warehouse Operations (Distribution) to lead and optimize our distribution network. This role is accountable for end-to-end warehouse and distribution performance, driving operational excellence, implementing and managing Warehouse Management Systems, and delivering cost-effective, on-time service to internal and external customers. The Director will provide strategic direction, build high-performing teams, partner with supply chain, retail and IT stakeholders, and lead system implementations and continuous improvement initiatives to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities

Set the strategy and operational plan for distribution centers to meet service, cost, quality and safety targets while supporting company growth and retail operations.

Lead, mentor and develop a multi-site operations management team; establish clear performance expectations and succession plans.

Own day-to-day distribution operations including inbound/outbound, cross-dock, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping to ensure on-time, accurate order fulfillment.

Drive Warehouse Management System (WMS) strategy and execution: manage WMS configuration, upgrades, testing and rollouts; partner with IT on ERP/SAP integrations to ensure seamless data flows and process alignment.

Develop and deliver KPI dashboards and operational reporting (OTD, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, cost per unit, shrink) to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Manage inventory control and cycle count programs to sustain high inventory accuracy and minimize shrink and write-offs.

Lead continuous improvement and lean initiatives to reduce cycle times, lower operating costs, increase throughput and improve workplace safety.

Control operating budgets and P&L for distribution operations; identify cost savings and capital improvement opportunities.

Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and maintain high standards for workplace safety, security and environmental responsibilities.

Coordinate with carriers, 3PLs and vendors; negotiate contracts and service levels to optimize network performance and cost.

Drive change management for new systems, processes and site launches; lead training programs to ensure effective adoption across operations.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse and distribution operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.

Demonstrated expertise in Operations, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Distribution strategy and hands-on experience as a Director of Operations or similar role.

Proven experience with SAP, ERP systems, and WMS implementations, including configuration, testing and go-live support.

Strong knowledge of warehouse processes (inbound, put-away, picking, packing, shipping), inventory control, logistics and distribution network design.

Experience supporting retail supply chains and multi-channel distribution environments is highly desirable.

Proven track record leading large teams, multi-site operations and driving measurable performance improvements.

Excellent analytical skills with experience using data and reporting tools to monitor KPIs and inform decisions (advanced Excel; BI experience a plus).

Strong project and change management skills, with experience managing system implementations and cross-functional initiatives.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence senior leaders and partner with IT, procurement, finance and commercial teams.

Willingness to travel to distribution sites as required.
