Director, Patient Availability

The Director of Patient Availability is responsible for leading enterprise-wide strategy, execution, and optimization of patient access and provider availability across AEG Vision. This role owns the end-to-end patient availability ecosystem, including doctor scheduling, capacity planning, forecasting, access optimization, and supporting technologies.

This leader partners cross-functionally with field leadership, recruiting, operations, and executive stakeholders to ensure patients have timely access to care while maximizing provider productivity and business performance. The Director will balance strategic vision with operational execution, driving scalable solutions, process standardization, and continuous improvement across markets.

  • Establish and lead the enterprise strategy for patient availability, including provider scheduling, capacity optimization, and access standards.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team responsible for scheduling operations and workforce planning.
  • Own and optimize doctor scheduling performance across all markets, ensuring alignment with patient demand, financial targets, and clinical coverage needs.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and governance across the organization.
  • Partner with OD Recruiting and Field Leadership to align provider supply with growth strategy, acquisitions, and market needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of scalable scheduling technologies, automation, and reporting capabilities.
  • Establish KPIs to monitor patient access, provider utilization, schedule fill rates, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee escalation management for critical scheduling gaps or disruptions, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal patient impact.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and special projects related to access, growth, and operational excellence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in workforce planning, scheduling operations, or healthcare access management.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and driving organizational initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise-level strategies in a multi-site environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, modeling, and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience with scheduling systems, workforce management tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive process improvement, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
