Role Summary:
Rivian is seeking a Director of Procurement to lead the Chassis, Body Structures, and Raw
Materials categories, covering Body-in-white, closures, chassis dynamics, chassis structures
and metals, liquids and resins. This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing
strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery
of components and materials essential for Rivian vehicle programs. The successful candidate
will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the automotive supply chain, particularly
in EV components and raw materials. Partnering with cross-functional leadership, the candidate
will be responsible for bringing the next generation or Rivian vehicles to reality in Illinois and our
new facility under construction in Georgia!
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for chassis, body, structures,
and raw materials, aligning with Rivian's overall product roadmap and business
objectives.
- Lead supplier identification, evaluation, selection, and negotiation processes to secure
optimal terms, quality, and delivery.
- Manage and cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and
driving continuous improvement.
- Oversee contract management, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and
mitigating supply chain risks.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and
negotiation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure
seamless integration of components and materials into production.
- Monitor market trends, raw material pricing, and supplier performance to proactively
address potential challenges and opportunities.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of procurement professionals.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and
regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a significant
focus on chassis, body, structures, or raw materials within the automotive or electric
vehicle industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful sourcing strategies and
achieving cost savings.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and supply chain
complexities
Pay Disclosure:
Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $150,000 - $215,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
