Director, Product Development

The Product Development Director is responsible for the research, design, development, and management of Concentra products and services. With a detailed understanding of business goals and objectives, the position will set long- and short-term goals for offerings that support the company’s strategic initiatives. This leader will formulate and execute fully integrated strategic plans that engage stakeholders, deliver a great customer/patient experience, and grow profitable business within a product portfolio or across all portfolios. This is accomplished through collaboration with executive team members and stakeholders across operations, clinical, sales, finance, IT, and marketing. This position has primary responsibility for all components of product development, including identifying emerging industry trends, conducting primary and secondary market research, defining customer and product requirements, and developing a compelling business case to achieve organizational goals. Leading strategic initiatives and managing cross-functional teams the Product Development Director will have extensive interaction and visibility throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Operational accountability and business ownership for product(s), processes, and results
  • Communicate direction, investment requirements, business cases, portfolio health challenges, and opportunities to senior executives and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as business owner for key enterprise platforms, including call center platforms, setting vision, objectives, and success criteria
  • Collaborate with Concentra stakeholders on enterprise initiatives related to omnichannel engagement, such as the development of communication channels and platforms
  • Manage the research, development, and launch of multiple new products, services, and partnership opportunities
  • Design, facilitate, and lead stakeholder interviews, surveys, and/or workshops to understand objectives, needs, challenges, and opportunities to develop vision and solutions within the context of the overall business and customer success strategy
  • Guide discussion with senior leaders and internal SMEs in various functional areas to identify challenges and opportunities to deliver an optimal customer experience
  • Identify and recommend improvements to workflows and technology to enable efficiencies in service delivery
  • Oversee the launch phase, monitor and analyze product performance, and make recommendations on modifications/enhancements
  • Collaborate with key organizational constituencies to ensure defined products have sufficient resources to achieve operational and revenue goals
  • Play a key role in sales and implementation activities, working with Operations to develop policies, workflows, and KPIs to ensure products and services deploy smoothly
  • Develop and manage product development / project plans
  • Project financial contributions, recommend pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals, and propose budgets to create a compelling business case
  • Charter and support required field education to enable effective positioning, selling, implementation, and support of products and services
  • Define potential product concepts
  • Monitor key industry trends and quantify market opportunities Conduct rigorous market testing
  • Assess competitive pressures
Qualifications:
  • Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree Major: Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field of study
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university. Education Details:
  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Design is preferred
  • Certifications and/or Licenses:
    • Six Sigma Certification preferred
    • Agile certification preferred
    • Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • Customarily has 10+ years of work experience with proven track record of delivering outstanding results
  • Customarily has 5+ years Product Development experience at a Fortune 500 company and/or in a consulting capacity
  • Preferably has previous experience leading Product at a Director or higher level for large, national B2B-focused or health care-focused company
  • Experience in call center operations, customer support technology, and/or omnichannel communications is preferred
  • Experience within the health care industry is strongly preferred

  • Expertise in technology development, including roles, methodology, and processes
  • Understand and leverage practices and processes of design thinking
  • Possesses subject matter expertise with respect to industry trends and competition
  • Proven success in the application of the principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling products and services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques and systems.
  • Possess a well-rounded business background with experience in collaborating with many different departments including sales, marketing, operations, finance, privacy and legal
