This opportunity may be located in any of the following regions depending on where the selected candidate is based:
  • Region 1 - West Central & Southwest Region
    • Facilities: Piedmont Atlanta, Piedmont System Support Center, Piedmont Fayette, Piedmont Newnan, Piedmont Columbus
  • Region 2 - Northern Region
    • Facilities: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Walton, Piedmont Eastside, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Mountainside
  • Region 3 - East Central & Southern Region
    • Facilities: Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Rockdale, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Macon, Piedmont Augusta
Responsibilities: This position provides strategic operational leadership for Public Safety services across an assigned region of Piedmont Healthcare. This role consolidates and oversees the activities of entity-level Public Safety Directors and Managers to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of security operations aligned with system-wide standards and strategic objectives. This person is responsible for optimizing resource deployment, driving policy compliance, ensuring the implementation of standardizing training and operations, and enhancing collaboration across facilities within the region. This position is also accountable for establishing and maintaining strong, trusted partnerships with local law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and other critical community resources to ensure coordinated response and information sharing. Additionally, the Regional Director works to develop strong collaborative relationships with entity-level executive leadership within their region, fostering alignment between Public Safety services and operational priorities. The role also carries direct responsibility for all emergency management activities within the region, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery operations for critical incidents, through the leadership and support of regionally assigned Emergency Management personnel. Through active leadership, data-informed decision-making, and strong stakeholder engagement, this position ensures the protection of patients, staff, and property while advancing a proactive, customer-service oriented security and safety culture throughout the enterprise. Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, Public Safety Administration, Emergency Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a closely related field Required or
  • In Lieu of degree Seven (7) of progressive experience in positions of increasing responsibility within Public Safety, law enforcement, intelligence operations, or a related field Required

Work Experience

  • 7 years of progressively responsible experience in public safety, law enforcement, military service, or healthcare security, to include at least five (5) years in a leadership Required or
  • In lieu of degree a minimum of fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible experience in public safety, law enforcement, military service, or healthcare security, including at least five (5) years in a leadership. Experience must include responsibility for strategic planning, personnel management, budget oversight, and interagency coordination. Required

  • Demonstrated experience in public safety, law enforcement and emergency management, incident response leadership, and working directly with executive leadership and external public safety partners Required
  • Required to pass psychological screening during pre-employment screening. Required
  • Required to take periodic call. Required
  • Required to travel up to 50% of time to Piedmont Facilities across the System. Required
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment or other highly regulated industry Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • None Required
  • IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator through IAHSS and/or Certified Protection Professional through ASIS Preferred
  • Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
