Responsibilities:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Quality Assurance (QA) and Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance efforts including the development and implementation of quality tools, methodologies and automation to ensure effective testing and identification of defects in new and existing products. This position will also be responsible for developing PMO processes and policies, collaborating with technology and business leaders to create and manage the project portfolio, and applying project delivery framework to provide consistent structure while enabling agility within project teams.

The desired candidate will be a leader and mentor to the team that is willing and able to jump in when needed as well as perform as an expert in domains of relevance. This person will lead with emotional intelligence and is expected to be available and involved with resolving complex technical challenges within the enterprise. This Director will work directly with our key vendor and business partners in support of the existing operations and will plan strategically to ensure the PHOENIX technology operations can support dynamic business initiatives and a robust application and infrastructure portfolio. This person will be responsible for taking part in the collaborative process of creating and supporting annual capital and expense budgets as well as multiyear, strategic roadmaps.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs the Enterprise Release Management and QA teams on processes, roles, and responsibilities
  • Assists in developing and executing long-term deployment strategy supporting business strategic objectives
  • Partners with leaders from Application development, Infrastructure, and Governance to define the future deployment strategy and processes across all IT team
  • Ensures consistent QA and Deployment processes and documentation and SOX compliance
  • Partners cross functionally in the design, development, testing and implementation phases of assigned projects
  • Manages outside vendors, including development partners, and banking and financial institutions, on needed testing, certifications and deployment
  • Co-own with Product Management, Business Owners, and stakeholders the product strategy and roadmap in a cross functional partnership with Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Owners, and other stakeholders
  • Responsibility for new software development, enhancements/modifications, system configuration, migrations/upgrades, and production support
  • Lead the high-quality execution of software products against project plans and delivery commitments
  • Hands-on leadership of software development managers and engineers along with supporting operations functions within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Responsibility for related application, technology, and data scalability and security pertaining to eCommerce growth internationally, within store, Mobile and disconnected experiences
  • Leadership of the development, deployment, and support of a new and existing processes and tools to improve Engineering and eCommerce workforce productivity

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or relevant area of study
  • Experience: 10+ years' experience building and leading development engineering teams that design and deliver digital commerce systems - preferably in an Agile development environment, with modern architecture and high availability
  • Experience: 7-10 years supervising or managing a team of technical engineers
  • Experience working in the retail industry required
  • Experience managing employee and contractor teams responsible for new development, enhancements, and production support in a retail environment. Experience in supporting vendor contracting, including creating statements of work, purchase orders and invoice receipts
  • Strong software development skillset, project management skills and have proven success in driving multiple large enterprise initiatives throughout the full lifecycle within an Agile product development environment; building and managing a team of employees and consultants; managing budgets and internal and external resources; managing, escalating and resolving risks/issues, and status reporting to senior management; and implementing, upgrading and maintaining eCommerce platform and systems
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts like SQL, indexes and constraints, transactions, and object-relational mapping; specific experience with modern web architecture leveraging API and microservices
  • Demonstrated ability to create multiyear, strategic plans leveraging technology in service of business objectives
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively / cross functionally and influence stake holders; manage and balance stakeholder expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve complex processes with a track record of successfully leading and delivering projects
  • Ability to manage projects and multiple tasks in an organized fashion
  • Ability to consistently support and lead teams on daily basis, or during emergencies, and regularly provide honest, direct feedback
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
