Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join GSK as Director, Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP). In this role, you will lead the development and application of QSP models to guide clinical study designs and provide mechanistic insights into study results. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. Please note: This position requires an on-site office -based presence 2 to 3 days a week in the UK (London or Stevenage); Switzerland (Zug); US (Upper Providence, PA. or Waltham. MA); or Poland (Warsaw).


Responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Develop and apply QSP models to inform clinical study designs and interpret study results.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate QSP approaches into drug development strategies.
  • Build and utilize models of biological and disease processes to evaluate drug candidates and treatment modalities.
  • Translate QSP analyses into actionable insights and communicate findings effectively to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging modeling methodologies and contribute to the scientific community through publications and presentations.
  • Lead and mentor other QSP modelers, fostering collaboration and innovation.


Basic Qualifications

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • PhD in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and applying QSP approaches in drug discovery and development.
  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling, including ordinary differential equations and parameter estimation.
  • Hands-on experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, R, SimBiology, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and their application in clinical study design.
  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and quantitative clinical pharmacology principles.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.


Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in oncology drug development or other therapeutic areas.
  • Familiarity with advanced modeling approaches, such as mechanistic PKPD modeling or adaptive dosing simulations.
  • Ability to summarize and present complex modeling outcomes to non-expert audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and contribute to scientific advancements in QSP.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring junior scientists.
