Director – Road Transport

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director – Road Transport to lead the end-to-end road transport function, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations that support business growth, customer commitments, and operational excellence.

This role will provide leadership across fleet operations, subcontractor and carrier management, transport execution, capacity planning, cost optimization, and operational governance, while driving continuous improvement and Transport Management System (TMS) optimization across the network.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the road transport function end to end
• Lead fleet operations to ensure optimal utilization, availability, safety, and compliance
• Manage subcontractors and carriers, including onboarding, contracting, performance management, and compliance
• Oversee daily transport execution to deliver consistent service reliability and on-time performance
• Drive route planning and capacity optimization to support volume growth and operational efficiency
• Ensure superior customer delivery performance and rapid resolution of service issues
• Control transport costs while maintaining required service and quality standards
• Implement productivity improvement initiatives across fleet and subcontracted operations
• Define, monitor, and manage operational KPIs related to cost, service, productivity, and safety
• Establish and maintain strong operational governance, controls, and reporting cadence
• Support revenue expansion through scalable operations and improved service offerings
• Lead operational scale-up to support market growth and peak demand requirements
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company policy requirements
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the transport network
• Lead the implementation, adoption, and continuous optimization of the Transport Management System (TMS)
• Ensure TMS is embedded in daily operations, carrier management, reporting, and performance monitoring
• Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, IT, and Operations teams to deliver integrated business outcomes
• Act as a senior stakeholder for customers, partners, and internal leadership on road transport matters

🔹 Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
• MBA or equivalent qualification is preferred
• 12–15+ years of experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain operations
• Minimum 5–7 years in a senior leadership or director-level role
• Strong background in fleet operations, subcontractor management, and transport network optimization
• Proven track record in cost optimization, operational scale-up, and KPI-driven performance management
• Experience in TMS implementation and transport digitization initiatives
• Strong financial, commercial, and operational management capabilities
