Description

Reporting to the VP, 3D Creative, the Director, Store Design will lead the development and execution of all Retail initiatives for TOM FORD and Couture Brands. This includes store design concept and design for all retail formats and tiers, guidelines, toolkits, communication, in-store experience and seasonal implementations, ensuring consistency and high visual standards that represents the brand image and brand equity throughout all retail channels of TOM FORD and Couture Brands. The Director, SD will partner with global cross-functional teams and Regional SD leads for development, execution and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive and lead the development of retail initiatives from ignition to implementation with cross-functional teams in global and regions
  • Manage and lead SD team, training and coaching new and existing SD team members.
  • Manage high volume workload and prioritize project requirements effectively.
  • Partner with Global Product Marketing and Creative Operations to establish project briefs and project objectives for in-store environment across multiple channels and formats
  • With a consumer-first mind set, focus on creating a cohesive consumer experience at Retail that is globally relevant and ensure synergy with other channels.
  • Aid VP and SVP Brand Image with Evolving Global Store Design Concept
  • Participate in brainstorming exchange and presentations of new ideas/concepts for:
    • Architectural Concept and Development
    • Fixture Concept and Development
    • Lighting Concept and Development
    • New Materials Selection and Specification
    • Merchandising Concept liaising with VM
  • Oversight of all Retail formats Globally (including Shop in Shop, Free Standing stores, Department Stores, Pop-ups, temporary Kiosk locations and Perfumeries) Tasks to include:
    • Design of all new TFB and BL formats and Tier A locations and top 100 doors: layout, design, 3-d visualization (sketch and presentation level) design development, supervision of project management to project end
    • Site inspections/visits /Punch lists (if applicable)
    • Quality monitoring during process
    • Design development drawings
    • Review of Construction drawings
    • Shop drawing reviews
    • Oversite of Tier B locations
  • Identify new retail experience opportunities for retail formats and brick and mortar channels.
  • Review and assist in the integration of Eyewear and Fashion within Beauty formats, adapting and developing fixture guidelines when required
  • Develop guidelines and toolkits for regions to activate retail initiatives. Work closely with Marketing to track execution, gather feedback and adjust where needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach across retail experience initiatives.
  • Foster successful working relationships with the regional teams, cross departments to ensure Retail Experience objectives are clearly understood and met.
  • Support regions with budget constraints, working with IP, RDDC and vendors to develop value engineering solutions and cost tiered formats.
  • Actively participate in meetings, present to upper management, Marketing, Regions and Licensees, substituting for VP when necessary, with decision making responsibilities.
  • Lead Regional conference calls and meetings
  • Lead sustainability initiatives, partnering with corporate teams and vendors.
  • Apply knowledge of competitive landscape and trends in line with Brand Strategy and Equity positioning.

Qualifications

  • B.Arch or M.Arch mandatory
  • Position requires 8-10 years of experience with a focus on architectural design and construction experience with a preference in luxury.
  • Luxury retail industry and international experience preferred.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience.
  • Actively demonstrate excellence in design vision, execution, and taste level.
  • Exceptional visualizations skills, presenting concepts and ideas through vivid mood boards, sketches, renderings, Photoshop comps, etc.
  • Ability too lead complete design projects of high complexity from inception through completion.
  • Challenges standard practices and applies new and different ways of thinking as necessary.
  • Must be an excellent team player; possessing the ability to build, foster and nurture strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to be flexible and strategic, solving problems with a team player mentality
  • Passionate about retail and in-store experience with a deep understanding of current luxury beauty/fashion/retail/design trends.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas and concepts clearly and accurately to cross functional partners.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, ability to self-manage and multi task on multiple brands, quality execution, and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and design shifts.
  • Ability to detail fixtures in realistic and executable fashion.
  • Knowledge of materials and methods of fabrication and installation of fixtures and construction.
  • Experience with technical drawings
  • 2D and 3D CAD skills essential and photoshop proficient.
  • Ability to work and think independently in a fast-paced environment with a strong creative focus.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.

Pay Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $208,200.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program as well as participation in the share incentive plan. In addition,
