Major Responsibilities
- Sets enterprise sourcing strategy for multiple categories representing ~$4B in annual spend, owning value creation, governance, and supplier ecosystem design.
- Designs and executes multiyear sourcing strategies aligned to enterprise priorities such as cost reduction, resiliency, sustainability, and vertical integration.
- Leads end-to-end strategic sourcing and contracting, including market analysis, supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and compliance governance.
- Partners with executive and cross functional stakeholders to align sourcing, value analysis, clinical needs, finance, and operational priorities.
- Drives cost savings and value optimization through data driven analysis, standardization, utilization controls, and total delivered cost management.
- Builds and maintains strategic supplier relationships, overseeing performance management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leads and develops a high performing sourcing organization, fostering talent development, succession planning, engagement, and inclusive leadership.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing enterprise decisions through clear, persuasive, data backed recommendations.
- Establishes metrics, reporting, and governance to measure sourcing impact on cost, quality, risk, and organizational outcomes.
- Ensures ethical, compliant, and resilient sourcing operations, managing risk, budgets, policies, and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree required; 7 years of direct relevant work experience in healthcare supply chain will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certification / Registration / License
Experience
- Requires minimum 7 years of experience in sourcing, contracting, procurement, materials management, logistics, and finance in a healthcare setting. Non-healthcare industry experience will be considered in lieu of direct healthcare experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
-
Demonstrated successful contract negotiation skills and ability to establish and administer complex contracts for products and services.
- Sound knowledge of inventory management and related accounting processes.
- Interchange and internet-based procurement transaction processes knowledge with exposure to broader issues such as Continuous Replenishment Processes or Vendor Managed Inventories.
- Skills developing strategic and tactical plans to meet business objectives in a large healthcare system.
- Knowledge of contract law and related legal and financial policies.
- Excellent communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with senior administrators, department leaders,
physicians, vendors, and clinical staff to support Advocate Health’s acquisition goals.
- Knowledge of healthcare accreditation standards (i.e. DNV, JCAHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and National Fire Protection Organization requirements.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and qualitative skills. Ability to identify and solve problems creatively, to work within deadlines with a high attention to detail and to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in working with and implementing large-scale automated systems.

This position requires limited regional and national travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.

Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role including but not limited to planning, directing, and leading a high-performing team centralized in sourcing functions, value analysis, the standardization of products, and the implementation of best practice and cost containment initiatives is preferred
Preferred Certification / Registration / License

Certified Resource & Materials Professional (CMRP) preferred but not required- American Hospital Association (AHA)
