Director, Strategic Sourcing - Procurement and Contracting - F/T - Days

Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Director, Strategic Sourcing & Value Analysis Incumbent is a visionary and operational leader responsible for delivering clinical and financial value through aligned sourcing and value analysis initiatives across UCI Health's six hospitals and extended care settings. This role also serves as the UCI Health representative to the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) for systemwide strategic sourcing initiatives under Leveraging Scale for Value (LSfV).
The incumbent leads a high-performing team that integrates best-in-class sourcing practices, supplier engagement, and clinical evidence into actionable value-based initiatives. This role oversees enterprise-level contracting and product evaluation, facilitates physician and clinician collaboration, and advances standardization and utilization optimization efforts that directly impact cost, quality, and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and the ability to synthesize clinical, operational, and financial data for value-based decision-making.
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation, including development and execution of structured sourcing strategies, pricing models, and supplier performance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in project management, data analysis, and financial modeling to support sourcing strategies, KPI tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with managed care organizations, peers, senior management, and assigned staff. Ability to work collaboratively and promote others, soliciting and incorporating their ideas when appropriate. Demonstrated quality customer service skills with all constituencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare strategic sourcing practices, policies, supplier management, and sourcing systems.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies. Lean, Six Sigma preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable strategies.
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in healthcare supply chain operations, with at least five (5) years in a strategic sourcing or value analysis leadership role.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across clinical, operational, and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated success managing physician- and clinician-led value analysis committees and programs, with measurable improvements in clinical variation, cost reduction, and product standardization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration, Public Health or other related field
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
