Director, Technology
KBR is focused on supporting various industry-wide growth initiatives via our sustainable technological solutions portfolio in clean fuels, plastics recycling, ammonia, and critical minerals to name a few. Progressing projects to achieve final investment decisions in this landscape is unique and needs a diverse ecosystem to meet global demands. The Director of Strategic Development will work within the Project Development team in KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions Business Unit. This role will shape and deliver on a development funnel, sourcing and executing deals, and building partnerships that accelerate the company’s goals in commercializing technologies in the energy transition space.
Strategy & Set-up

Support investment thesis aligned with corporate strategy and long-term goals

Develop governance structures, investment processes, and decision-making frameworks

Define fund parameters (e.g., capital allocation, portfolio diversification, return metrics, strategic KPIs)

Collaborate with functional groups to determine appropriate structure, compliance, and reporting mechanisms

Establish business specific criteria that will be central to evaluation of each development on a common platform
Deal Sourcing & Execution

Identify, evaluate, and prioritize development opportunities in KBR’s emerging technologies that demand strategic investment

Work with business team to support due diligence processes

Negotiate deal structures and investment agreements

Support development of Confidential Information Memorandum, Data Room and associated investment material to support progression of opportunities through the deal funnel
Portfolio Management

Research and add companies that support ecosystem growth (providing strategic guidance and facilitating commercial collaboration)

Monitor portfolio performance against financial and strategic objectives

Drive value creation initiatives such as partnerships, pilot projects, and co-development

Build relationships with co-investors, accelerators, incubators, and other institutions

Represent the platform at industry events and investor networks
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors in Science or Business required. MBA preferred but not required.

7 to 10 years in venture capital, corporate development, finance, or strategy consulting, with at least 5 years focused on the energy, climate tech, or sustainability sectors

Strong understanding of energy transition trends, including renewable energy, energy storage, carbon capture, hydrogen, electrification, and sustainable mobility

Experience with early- to growth-stage investments, including deal structuring and governance

Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation skills

Ability to navigate complex corporate environments and build alignment across multiple stakeholders
