Role Purpose
The Director – Terminal Security is responsible for leading, governing, and overseeing all security operations within airport terminal facilities, ensuring compliance with national and international aviation security standards while safeguarding passengers, staff, assets, and critical infrastructure.
The role ensures the development and implementation of terminal security strategies aligned with regulatory frameworks, operational readiness requirements, and King Salman International Airport’s vision of delivering a secure, seamless, and world-class passenger experience.
Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy & Governance

Develop and implement terminal security strategy aligned with GACA regulations and international aviation security standards.

Establish governance frameworks, policies, SOPs, and performance controls for terminal security operations.

Lead risk-based security planning and ensure continuous improvement in threat mitigation.

Represent Terminal Security in executive committees and regulatory engagements.
Regulatory Compliance & Assurance

Ensure full compliance with GACA AVSEC regulations, ICAO Annex 17, IATA security standards, and national security directives.

Oversee audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.

Lead corrective action plans for compliance gaps and operational risks.
Operational Security Oversight

Oversee passenger screening, access control, landside and airside terminal security, CCTV surveillance, and security command center operations.

Ensure effective coordination with airport police, customs, border control, and relevant government authorities.

Lead incident response, crisis management, and emergency security protocols within terminal areas.
Technology & Systems Integration

Oversee implementation and optimization of security technologies including biometrics, access control systems, CCTV analytics, and screening equipment.

Ensure integration between physical security, cybersecurity (where applicable), and operational systems.

Drive innovation to enhance passenger flow while maintaining security integrity.
Risk Management & Business Continuity

Lead threat assessments and vulnerability analysis.

Ensure terminal security readiness for emergency scenarios and business continuity planning.

Develop contingency frameworks for high-risk events and peak operational periods.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Lead and develop Terminal Security teams, outsourced security providers, and contractors.

Manage performance KPIs and service level agreements.

Engage with executive leadership, regulators, airlines, and government entities.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Aviation Management, Law Enforcement, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 12–15 years of experience in aviation security, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role within a major international airport.

Strong knowledge of GACA AVSEC regulations, ICAO Annex 17, IATA security standards, and global aviation security frameworks.

Proven experience managing large-scale terminal operations in complex or mega airport environments.

Experience working within regulatory and government-driven environments (Saudi or GCC experience preferred).
