Director - Wholesale Banking

JOB PURPOSE:

To originate, manage, and grow a high‑quality corporate banking portfolio by developing deep client relationships, delivering strategic financial solutions, and coordinating with product partners across FAB. The role ensures strong risk management, portfolio quality, revenue growth, and adherence to CBO regulatory frameworks i.e., BM 1108, BM 1170 and all other regulatory circulars issued by CBO. The Director acts as a primary client advisor and portfolio owner, responsible for end‑to‑end execution on credit, onboarding, cross‑sell, and service delivery.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Client Relationship & Portfolio Management:
  • Lead coverage for corporates and Business Banking clients, in country and across FAB network.
  • Develop Account Plans, grow wallet share, enhance cross‑sell.
  • Ensure portfolio monitoring, early‑warning identification, compliance with FAB’s credit risk appetite.
  • Maintain credit quality and ensure all reviews, renewals, and covenants are completed.
  • Examine & resolve credit, market and operational risk aspects of the transactions in collaboration with products and enablement units.
  • Prepare Key Account Plans for clients.


  • Origination & Deal Execution:
  • Identify, structure, and originate opportunities aligned with client needs.
  • Prepare CIMs, term sheets, pricing proposals.
  • Lead end‑to‑end execution with Credit, Risk, Legal, Ops, and product partners.
  • Manage P&L responsibility of the assigned portfolio, achieving targets within defined budget levels.


  • Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Maintain strong credit discipline and covenant monitoring.
  • Ensure AML/KYC compliance, periodic reviews, and regulatory adherence.
  • Support internal/external audits, CBO examination, ORM, BCP, and internal compliance.
  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of the business functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.


  • Collaboration with Product Partners/Sector Heads:
  • Work closely with GTx, Trade, Markets, Treasury, Corporate Finance, etc and all other product partners and sector heads/team.
  • Drive cross‑sell revenue and support NTB onboarding.
  • Promote digital adoption across FAB corporate channels.


  • Market & Sector Intelligence:
  • Conduct sector analysis and provide insights into management.
  • Track economic, sovereign, GRE, and market developments.


  • Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure documentation, KFS, account plans, and pipeline accuracy.
  • Adhere to governance frameworks and DOA.


  • Day‑to‑Day Activities:
  • Manage daily client engagement and transactions end‑to‑end.
  • Update CRM, MIS, LH pipeline trackers regularly.
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet the unit’s requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Learning & Development – Attend appropriate on and off-the-job training programs and ensure development and skill upgradation of team members.
  • Support ED/Coverage Head with portfolio and governance reports.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Banking, Economics, Business, or similar
  • MBA/Finance preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Corporate Banking or a similar area preferably managing client relationships.


Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of corporate banking products and credit structuring.
  • Familiarity with CBO frameworks including BM1108, BM1170, KYC/AML, KFS.
