Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is looking to add a writer and storyteller to its Communications team. This experienced wordsmith should be as comfortable writing quick updates as crafting compelling narratives that bring our policy and advocacy work and member impact stories to life. The ideal candidate has a confident writing style, a passion for experimentation and innovation, and can translate complex business issues into engaging stories that resonate with diverse audiences. Bonus points if the candidate is a collaborative, nimble colleague.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop human-centered stories that illustrate the Chamber’s policy positions and member successes.
  • Transform policy briefs and research into accessible, engaging content for multiple stakeholders.
  • Help connect work from multiple stakeholders to show the big-picture impact.
  • Identify and interview members, stakeholders, and community leaders to source authentic stories, including helping staff events and convenings.
  • Write or curate content, policy updates, and member stories for newsletter audiences.
  • Partner with the policy teams to understand legislative priorities and translate them into compelling narratives.
  • Work with the Communications team to align storytelling with broader messaging strategy.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, content creation, or communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated storytelling ability.
  • Ability to distill complex policy or business topics into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Experience conducting interviews and developing story angles.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
The salary range for this position is $107,900.00 to $120,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
