Disability Claims Analyst

Disability Determination Services Division - Remote within North Dakota - Disability Claims Analyst

Help improve the quality of life for North Dakotans with disabilities who apply for or receive Social Security Administration disability benefits. ND Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Disability Claims Analyst for its Disability Determination Services Division (DDS).

As our Disability Claims Analyst, you will begin your role with a 13-week extensive training program followed by continued support, feedback, and training from division training staff. You will gather and analyze medical evidence to make medical determinations of eligibility for Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplementary Security Income benefits so applicants can get the resources they need. You will interact via telephone with the applicant, doctors, medical consultants, governmental sources, Social Security field offices, private institutions and/or employers to obtain medical evidence. You will request medical examinations to provide additional documentation if needed. You will analyze medical evidence with DDS medical consultants to document and make medical disability decisions.

  • Capable of accurately writing and documenting disability decisions

To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in a medical related field, sociology, criminal justice, psychology or education AND one (1) year of work experience in: vocational evaluation, case management, social work, communication disorders, any medical related field, direct care work with a variety of populations or processing claims such as housing assistance, economic assistance eligibility or insurance. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience as a Disability Claims Analyst.

Location: ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position will initially be onsite and has the ability to work at home or onsite after the probationary period is successfully completed.
