Job Title: Discipline Lead Engineer (Fire Safety System Expert – B.Sc. Eng with 15+ years experience)
Location: Islamabad/Kohat (Project-based, willing to relocate)
Roles & Responsibilities of Discipline Lead Engineer – Fire Safety Systems
1. Leadership & Discipline Management
- Act as the discipline lead engineer for fire protection and fire alarm systems on assigned projects.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise discipline engineers, designers, and draftsmen to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance, resolve discipline-related issues, and ensure smooth coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.
2. Design & Engineering
- Develop and review design concepts, calculations, technical drawings, and specifications for fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with NFPA, IBC, IFC, UL, FM, and local codes/standards.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations, system layouts, and material specifications for fire suppression systems (sprinklers, hydrants, foam, gaseous).
- Review and approve vendor drawings, data sheets, and equipment submittals.
3. Project Execution & Coordination
- Oversee fire safety system installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with project managers, construction supervisors, contractors, and clients to ensure timely delivery of fire protection systems.
- Support procurement teams in technical evaluations and selection of equipment/materials.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress specific to fire safety discipline.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Implement and enforce discipline-related QA/QC procedures across design and execution phases.
- Ensure compliance with local civil defense authority requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
- Conduct technical audits, inspections, and risk assessments to maintain system reliability.
5. Safety & Risk Management
- Evaluate fire protection needs and develop risk-based solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential facilities.
- Review fire hazard analysis reports and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure safe design practices and promote a safety-first culture during execution.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and review engineering reports, project specifications, and method statements.
- Maintain accurate discipline documentation including as-built drawings, inspection reports, and compliance certificates.
- Report project progress, technical challenges, and design updates to project management and clients.
7. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary discipline contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Attend project review meetings, present technical solutions, and address client concerns.
- Build long-term professional relationships by ensuring technical excellence and reliable delivery.
8. Continuous Improvement & Training
- Stay updated with the latest fire safety technologies, standards, and industry practices.
- Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Recommend process improvements and innovative solutions for enhanced system efficiency.
Qualification Requirement:
- B.Sc. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, or related discipline).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in design, installation, and commissioning of fire safety systems.
- Strong expertise in NFPA codes, international standards, and civil defense approval processes.
- Proven leadership in executing large-scale industrial/commercial fire safety projects.
- Oil, gas experience is preferable.
