Job Title: Discovery Floater Paralegal
Reports To: Supervising Attorney(s)
Position Details: (40 hr./week) M-F (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) Alternative, Flexible Schedule + 1 remote day per week available per department needs and supervisor approval.
Hourly, Non-exempt
Overall Descriptions of the Position:
A Discovery Floater Paralegal position at The Gori Law Firm will assist attorneys in propounding discovery requests, tracking responses and by analyzing site hits and preparing discovery summaries to initiate legal action.
Skills & Abilities
- Advanced to Expert knowledge and demonstrated competency in the following:
- Drafting, research, legal terminology, language, and writing
- Legal procedures and processes
- Electronic document management systems
- MS Office Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
- Strong reading comprehension and writing skills
- Ability to read and identify pertinent information into succinct, yet comprehensive summaries
- Punctual and predictable attendance
- Job duties must be regularly performed in the office
- Asbestos litigation or product experience, preferred
Position Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Organize and categorize large volumes of discovery
- Prepare and maintain docket discovery summaries
- Analyze site hit lists and communicate information as needed to other team members
- Ensure tasks are timely and efficient to meet litigation deadlines
- Research and investigate defendant specific corporate history and prior litigation
- Maintain documents and run case reports from paper and electronic filing system
- Maintain specialized record database systems for record retrieval, documentation and requests.
- Scan, print, copy, and file documents on e-filing systems pertaining to the case at hand
- Work independently and part of a team to ensure cases are properly maintained in the absence of a case manager.
Education, Certificates and Licenses:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or similar field or Associate’s Degree with Paralegal Certification
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
