Dispatch Manager

Role Summary

To oversee the end-to-end outbound logistics operations of the cement plant, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of bulk and bagged cement. This role requires a strategic leader capable of managing transporter relations, optimizing fleet utilization, and integrating packing plant operations with sales demand, all while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Operations

  • Develop and execute daily dispatch plans based on sales orders and production availability (Bagged vs. Bulk).
  • Coordinate closely with the Packing Plant and Production teams to ensure stock availability meets market demand.
  • Monitor and reduce Turnaround Time (TAT) for trucks inside the plant to maximize throughput.
  • Oversee Weighbridge operations to ensure 100% accuracy in invoicing and weight compliance.

2. Fleet & Transporter Management

  • Manage relationships with external transporters and logistics service providers.
  • Negotiate freight rates and contracts to optimize transportation costs (Cost Per Ton).
  • Ensure adequate truck availability during peak seasons to prevent dispatch bottlenecks.

3. Process Improvement & Systems

  • Leverage ERP systems (e.g., SAP SD/MM) to automate dispatch processes and generate real-time reports.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify inefficiencies and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Manage inventory control of finished goods within the silos and warehouses.

4. Leadership & Compliance

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of dispatch officers, weighbridge operators, and supervisors.
  • Enforce strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols for all drivers and staff within the dispatch area.
  • Ensure compliance with local transportation laws (axle load limits) and company statutory regulations.


Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics and dispatch, with at least 5 years in the Cement or Heavy Manufacturing industry (Steel, Mining, etc.).

Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP (Sales & Distribution module) and MS Excel.

Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of cement logistics (Bulkers, Flatbeds, Clinker movement) and geographical route planning.

Soft Skills: Strong negotiation capabilities, crisis management, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments.
