Dispatch Manager

Role Summary

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing all dispatch operations and ensuring the successful execution of daily routes. This role owns the performance of the dispatch department, including on-time delivery, route efficiency, and operational accuracy. The Dispatch Manager leads the dispatch team, manages real-time operations, and drives continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Core Responsibilities

1. Daily Operations Management

  • Oversee all dispatch operations and ensure successful completion of daily routes
  • Monitor route progress and proactively address delays or operational issues
  • Make real-time decisions regarding routing, driver assignments, and prioritization
  • Ensure all stops are completed accurately and on schedule

2. Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support dispatch team members
  • Monitor performance, including route management, data entry, and problem solving
  • Oversee onboarding and training of new dispatch staff

3. Performance & Accountability

  • Track and report key dispatch metrics (accuracy of reports, driver follow-ups, missed delays, missed dispatch communication items)
  • Identify trends and implement improvements
  • Hold dispatch team accountable for performance standards

4. Systems & Process Improvement

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all dispatch data
  • Identify inefficiencies in workflows and recommend improvements
  • Assist in development and implementation of SOPs
  • Collaborate on enhancements to dispatch systems and tools

5. Communication & Coordination

  • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and management to ensure smooth operations
  • Handle escalations from drivers and customers.
  • Communicate delays, changes, and issues in a timely manner
  • Represent dispatch in company meetings and operational reviews

6. Incident & Service Management

  • Manage and document operational issues, delays, and service failures
  • Provide support and coordination following a safety incident, such as collision
  • Ensure timely resolution and follow-up
  • Handle customer and driver concerns

7. HR & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Track time and attendance
  • Approve time off requests and ensure adequate coverage
  • Document personnel issues and report to HR
  • Issue disciplinary actions as appropriate

Hours:

Monday - 9 AM - Close

Tuesday 9 AM - Close

Wednesday - 9 AM - Close

Thursday - 8 AM - Close

Friday - 9 AM - Close

*Schedules may vary based on business and staffing needs

*Semi-annual weekend company meetings

Benefits:

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
