Position Summary: The Dispatch Manager manages the dispatch office including oversight of the driver scheduling, training, coaching and performance of dispatchers. The Dispatch Manager oversees, directs and coordinates all transportation activities of the Office and Dispatch at assigned terminal to obtain optimum efficiency of the operations to maximize profits by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Oversees operation of the Office and Dispatching in assigned terminal.
  • Collaborates with dispatchers to ensure delivery of routes and modification of routes as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service and team leadership, planning, developing policies,
    delegation.
  • Supervises the driver workforce in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Ensures full compliance of all DOT regulations including Hours of Service for all drivers.
  • Interfaces with the Federal, State, and local agencies in a professional and effective manner.
  • Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members
    of the business community.
  • Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization, governmental
    officials, and outside agencies.

Other Functions:

  • Assists in efforts to identify environmental risks and recommends appropriate actions to
    improve environmental performance.
  • Complies with safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • 1 years of related experience in transportation, including DTSC and DOT regulations.
  • 1 year of supervisory work preferred
