Dispatcher

Farmers Union Coop Transport, a northern Wisconsin transportation company, is seeking a reliable and organized Full-time Dispatcher to efficiently coordinate daily operations.

Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include split shifts, weekends, and holidays, as many operations run 24/7. Office working hours: 7A-11A; monitor phone coverage 11A-3P; Dispatch routes 4P until complete – all which are fluid depending on seasonal workload.

You will serve as the communication liaison between drivers, customers, internal staff and management, ensuring all requests are handled promptly and correctly. Ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, highly organized, motivated to work independently with a flexible schedule, and able to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in defining role to implement new processes and procedures in dispatching local drivers.
• Receive and log incoming loads: LP, Fuel/Gas, Anhydrous, Liquid Fertilizer, Grain/Hopper, and Whey along with obtaining keep-fill levels and creating loads for drivers.
• Prioritize calls and dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment to locations according to same-day or next-day needs.
• Relay information, work orders, route changes, and safety information to drivers.
• Communication with customers and drivers to resolve problems, address requests, and provide updates on delivery requests.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatched activities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and relevant laws. (DOT regulations)
• Prepare daily dispatch documents such as manifests and driver pay sheets, as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven experience in a fast-paced customer service or logistics role is beneficial. On-the-job training provided.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear instructions and interact with diverse individuals.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to quickly assess situations, identify problems, and find effective solutions.
• Multitasking & Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize calls by urgency, and maintain detailed records with precision.
• Composure: Capability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure, stressful, or emergency situations.
• Technical Proficiency: Competence in using computers, multi-line phone systems, cellular telephones, and dispatching/scheduling software (Samsara).
• Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, which may include split shifts, weekends, and holidays, as many operations run 24/7. Office working hours: 7A-11A; monitor phone coverage 11A-3P; Dispatch routes 4P until complete – all which are fluid depending on seasonal workload.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of local geography and road systems
• Confident technology skill
