Job Summary: The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling deliveries and credit returns for the branch in accordance with company standards. This role supports the development and execution of strategies to manage all aspects of the delivery and return process, with a focus on maximizing productivity, efficiency, and cost control. The Dispatcher analyzes trends, identifies opportunities for improvement, and resolves issues while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule deliveries and credit returns to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Track fleet activity using GPS systems and maintain communication with drivers.
  • Coordinate delivery logistics and manage dispatch records, including driver assignments, delivery times, and loads.
  • Assist with warehouse and delivery duties as needed, including loading, unloading, and staging materials.
  • Maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and urgency while meeting deadlines.
  • Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA safety standards and transportation regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, sales staff, vendors, and management to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and team members.
  • Assist with accident investigations and customer service needs as required.
  • Provide daily work direction, training support, and feedback to team members as needed.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in dispatching or logistics coordination preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and dispatch software.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience working in a lumber yard or building materials environment preferred.
