Dispatcher / Customer Service Representative

Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Dispatcher / Customer Service Representative to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing job assignments, coordinating field operations, and serving as the first point of contact for our valued customers. You will help ensure seamless communication between clients, dispatch, and field personnel while supporting 24/7 operations in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone and email with professionalism and accuracy
  • Manage real-time dispatching and logistics coordination of Tank Barge PICs and marine personnel
  • Enter and maintain accurate data and job details in dispatch systems (TowWorks or equivalent)
  • Analyze customer needs and provide timely solutions or escalate when appropriate
  • Coordinate with terminals, vessel crews, and internal departments to ensure timely job execution
  • Assist with transportation planning to optimize scheduling and resource utilization
  • Monitor job progress during active shifts and adjust plans based on conditions or customer updates
  • Support continuous improvement in service delivery and customer satisfaction

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customer service, dispatching, or logistics coordination preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment
  • Familiarity with transportation planning or marine operations is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with dispatch software (TowWorks preferred)
  • Strong computer navigation skills, including accurate data entry and ability to work across multiple systems simultaneously
  • Comfortable using email, web-based platforms, and real-time communication tools
  • Professional phone presence with strong active listening skills
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure
  • Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities
  • Team-oriented mindset with a customer-first attitude
  • Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays
