Jefferson Lines is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our Operations team. Dispatch is the operational heartbeat of our network—ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time service across our system while supporting drivers in real time.

Position Summary

The Dispatcher coordinates daily operations across the Jefferson Lines network by managing driver assignments, monitoring service performance, and responding to real-time operational challenges. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safety, service reliability, and effective communication across all departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate bus movements and driver assignments to ensure service reliability and KPI performance
  • Ensure compliance with planned fleet rotations and operator schedules
  • Maintain accurate, near real-time driver availability and status within operational systems
  • Monitor current and forecasted weather conditions and proactively make recommendations to adjust operations to ensure safety and minimize service disruptions
  • Respond quickly and effectively to service interruptions, delays, and emergency situations
  • Arrange for substitute carriers, equipment, or personnel as needed to maintain scheduled service
  • Coordinate emergency roadside assistance, repairs, or towing for motorcoaches
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with drivers to provide guidance, support, and operational updates
  • Ensure drivers are properly prepared prior to departure, including awareness of detours, route changes, and operational notices
  • Support driver success by assisting with accommodations, meals, and transportation when necessary
  • Review, verify, and approve driver payroll in accordance with company policy and union contract requirements
  • Manage and document safety-related and customer service incidents in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain accurate operational logs and ensure all communications are current and properly documented
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Safety, Fleet, and Operations leadership
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply policies consistently
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with transportation systems such as Distinctive Coach Manager and Samsara preferred
  • Working knowledge of DOT, federal, and state regulations

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of experience in the transportation industry preferred
  • Must be proficient in English (Spanish is a plus)
  • Must have or obtain a valid CDL and medical card within 6 months of hire
