Subdivision ‘C’ Work Train Unit is seeking potential candidates to fill anticipated vacancies in the immediate future. The Work Train Unit is a high pressure, continuously evolving, seven (7) day a week operation, responsible for the safe and cost-effective operations of all, but not limited to, miscellaneous equipment movement throughout the system.
You will maintain your current rate of pay.
- Daily preparation, maintaining and distributing system wide “A” and “B” Division work train manifests, SMEE transfers, Supervisory and Crew Assignment Sheets and daily work train routing guides.
- Coordinate, arrange, monitor, and accurately document all daily miscellaneous equipment movement, including all work trains, SMEE transfers, inspections, and relocation transfers.
- Formulate emergency response and action plans requiring the use of miscellaneous equipment during extreme weather conditions, flood conditions, collision/derailments, etc.
- Communicate with SD personnel at other facilities (OCC, Yards, Terminals, etc.) to ensure safe and efficient operations as per Standard Operating Procedures and Bulletins.
- Coordinate daily with the Crew Assignment Section to ensure complete, thorough, and efficient crewing of all requested miscellaneous work train movement.
- Coordinate daily with MOW/Track to ensure an accurate daily manifest.
- Perform various administrative duties as needed to ensure the unit meets all deadlines.
- Will work at 38th St. Yard Car Control or Westchester Yard Work Train Administration as deemed necessary by line management. May also be required to assist in 38th Street Yard operations.
- Will assist with coordination of work train makeup as required.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the unit. This includes but is not limited to changes in tours and days off, especially during emergency operations.
Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years in the title of Yard Dispatcher or Train Dispatcher.

Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, I-TRAC, and Outlook.

General knowledge of “A” and “B” Division Track Schematics, Winter Operations Plans, Work Train Standard Operating Procedures.

General knowledge of Work Train manifests.
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
