Dispatcher / Scheduler – Part‑Time (Nonprofit Transportation)

Handi‑Wheels Transportation is seeking a compassionate, organized Dispatcher / Scheduler to help connect elderly and disabled community members to critical medical care. This role is the heart of our operation — ensuring that people who cannot drive themselves still have access to healthcare, independence, and dignity.If you value meaningful work, clear structure, and making a daily difference in people’s lives, this position may be a great fit.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- Approximately 20-30 hours per week
- (Hours may be adjusted as needed)
What You’ll Do
- Answer phones and schedule medical transportation
- Coordinate daily routes and driver schedules
- Respond to same‑day changes calmly and professionally
- Communicate clearly and kindly with riders, drivers, and medical offices
- Use email and basic computer systems to track trips and notes
- Support elderly, disabled, low‑income individuals, and New Americans with patience and professionalism
- Document ride changes, issues, and resolutions
Skills(Required)
- Calm under pressure and able to problem‑solve in real time
- Clear, respectful communication with a wide range of people
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort using phones, email, and basic computer systems
- Ability to manage scheduling or logistics tasks
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
Nice‑to‑Haves (Preferred, Not Required)
- Dispatch, scheduling, or call‑center experience
- Transportation, nonprofit, or human services experience
- Experience working with elderly or disabled populations
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of the Fargo community or local medical facilities
(Training is provided. We value good judgment and a willingness to learn over perfect experience.)

Compensation: Dependent on experience (DOE)
