Distribution System & Automation Director

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Distribution System & Automation Director to lead the operation, maintenance, and automation systems of our medium and low voltage (MV/LV) electrical distribution network.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and quality of power delivery while also advancing smart grid technologies and system automation across our service regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical-Electronics Engineering,
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the electrical distribution sector, especially in network operations and automation,
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, AMI (OSOS), MV automation, and DMS systems,
• Proven experience in team management, crisis handling, and technical coordination,
• Proficient in MS Office, technical reporting, and data analysis tools,
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Job Description

• Manage the continuous and safe operation of the MV/LV distribution network,
• Develop, implement, and optimize the network asset maintenance management system,
• Conduct market research on equipment and tools used in network maintenance; evaluate new technologies for field deployment,
• Analyze grid performance with regional Maintenance Engineers and guide investment plans to minimize outages,
• Prepare and report technical quality indicators (e.g., SAIDI, SAIFI) to regulatory bodies such as EMRA,
• Coordinate and forecast material needs for annual maintenance and outage response with regional teams,
• Ensure technical training for personnel on new equipment and maintenance technologies,
• Lead the analysis and resolution process for 3rd party damages and customer equipment claims,
• Manage field teams responsible for fault response, repair, and preventive maintenance,
• Analyze outages, power quality issues, and develop corrective and preventive actions,
• Monitor and improve automation systems: SCADA, DMS, OSOS (AMI), remote switching, RTU/FRTU, reclosers, etc.
• Oversee integration and maintenance of all grid automation infrastructure,
• Lead smart grid and automation-supported projects aimed at loss detection and energy quality improvement,
• Generate reports based on OSOS, SCADA, and automation system data,
• Track performance metrics: energy consumption, fault frequency, outage durations, etc.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with EMRA, TEDAS, Ministry of Energy, and other authorities,
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and field personnel,
• Take ownership of safety, training, shift planning, and staff development,
• Coordinate with departments such as Investment, Projects, Fault Response, and SCADA Centers,
• Ensure full compliance with the company’s quality, environmental, health, and safety systems.
