Job Purpose

The Dive Center Boat Captain is a site-based role responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of all dive center vessels, ensuring exceptional guest comfort and a premium on-water experience at all times.

This role is critical in maintaining the highest standards of marine safety, vessel performance, and presentation. The Boat Captain is accountable for the operational readiness, cleanliness, and maintenance coordination of all assigned vessels, ensuring they are consistently maintained in optimal condition.

In addition to navigation and vessel management, the role supports dive operations, contributes to environmental stewardship initiatives, and upholds the service standards expected within a luxury marine tourism environment.

Key Responsibilities 1. General Responsibilities
  • Operate and navigate all dive center vessels safely, professionally, and in full compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Support the Dive Center Manager in the day-to-day operations and overall performance of marine activities.
  • Prepare vessels daily for operations, ensuring readiness, safety compliance, and presentation standards.
  • Captain all scheduled dive excursions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of vessels (interior and exterior) to the highest standards.
  • Assist with dive center support tasks, including cylinder handling, equipment organization, and general upkeep.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Sustainability and SEZ teams, to ensure alignment with environmental regulations and marine conservation objectives.
  • Support multi-site operations, including remote work and site visits as required.
2. Pre-Opening Support
  • Assist in the setup and operational readiness of dive center marine assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during the development and delivery phase to ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of local dive sites, navigation routes, and marine conditions within the operating area.
3. Operational Responsibilities (Post-Opening)
  • Ensure safety is always the highest priority in all marine and diving operations.
  • Coordinate safe diver drop-offs and pick-ups in accordance with established diving protocols.
  • Monitor weather, sea conditions, and operational risks to ensure safe trip execution.
  • Maintain accurate vessel logs, maintenance records, and daily operational reports.
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic troubleshooting of vessels and outboard engines, escalating issues as required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members, guests, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all dive center activities conducted via vessels meet professional and operational standards.
  • Enforce strict adherence to all marine safety standards, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, promoting responsible marine practices.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and marine conservation efforts in line with company objectives.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized vessel environment for both guests and crew.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maritime regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including vessel logs, maintenance schedules, and incident reports.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, safety standards, and guest experience.
  • Contribute to process improvements aligned with international best practices and operational excellence.
Job Requirements Qualifications & Experience
  • Licensed/registered Boat Captain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Strong knowledge of local waters, preferably within the Al Wajh Lagoon or similar environments.
  • Proven experience in marine operations, ideally supporting diving or tourism activities.
  • Experience working with divers and understanding dive operation requirements.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills for boats and outboard engines.
  • Previous experience in hospitality or luxury tourism environments is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.

  • Additional language proficiency (preferably Arabic).
  • Experience as a boat mechanic, particularly with outboard engines.
  • Knowledge or interest in marine conservation and sustainability practices.
