The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team has an immediate, exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and service-focused professional to join the team as a DEI Assistant. This hybrid role (partly remote and partly in-person) will ideally be based in Palo Alto, CA.



The DEI Assistant will report to the firm’s Director of DEI, with additional support responsibilities for the DEI Manager and DEI Specialist. The DEI Assistant will also collaborate with other departments across the firm, including Attorney Recruiting, Community Impact, Pro Bono, Marketing, and the wider Professional Development team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for all DEI trainings, programs, and events. Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
    • Scheduling
    • Reserving rooms, equipment, and other items needed for in-person gatherings
    • Presenter and attendee logistics-related communications,
    • Tracking attendance records and maintaining other records
  • Support the firm’s affinity groups, including coordinating scheduling, maintaining listservs, and other administrative needs
  • Assist with signature DEI programs, such as the Women’s Leadership Summit and Diversity Summit
  • Coordinate firm sponsorships and participation in external DEI-related conferences and events
  • Regularly update DEI-related content on the firm’s intranet and website
  • Maintain and update internal DEI records, including the DEI Hours program tracking, internal budget, etc.)
  • Navigate the firm’s learning management system to manage class details and registrations, track attendance, and enter CLE credits
  • Edit and post class recordings to the firm’s on-demand learning platform
  • Assist with research and information gathering on potential external speakers and activities for DEI programs
  • Provide administrative support and other assistance in connection with internal and external reporting requests
  • Proofread and edit all work with attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
  • Respond to inquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring strong communication and follow-up
  • Provide general support to the DEI team and contribute to special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with relevant work experience may be considered
  • Prior experience in a professional services or law firm environment preferred
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in all work
  • Professionalism, discretion, and good judgment when handling confidential information
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset, but also able to take initiative and work independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Comfort with technology and ability to quickly learn new tools; advanced skills in virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, WebEx) strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows: $24.52 – $33.17 per hour.

The compensation for this position may include overtime and a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
