Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgery Ventures Group Ethics and Compliance Officer is responsible for the effective implementation and leadership of the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Program across ambulatory surgery centers, administrative offices, and revenue cycle operations for Surgery Ventures Group (SVG). This service line leadership role promotes ethical behavior and strengthens awareness and understanding of the Company’s compliance expectations among SVG staff, clinical teams, and administrative personnel. This role provides guidance to the organization on ASC‑specific ethics and compliance matters, including regulatory requirements unique to outpatient surgical environments.

This executive leader supports interpretation and application of the Code of Conduct (Code), Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures (E&C Policies), and related communications within surgery center settings. They will conduct investigations related to Ethics Line reports as assigned, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and appropriately. This role will also contribute to the development of programs, policies, and procedures that reinforce compliant practices within the SVG’s revenue cycle activities, including scheduling, insurance verification, coding, billing, and collections.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and visibility for the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Program within the SVG organization.
  • Review concerns or questions relative to compliance issues and provide consultative guidance and support to facilities and Divisional leadership.
  • Communicate E&C issues to SVG leaders to encourage their involvement and support.
  • Coordinate with SVG senior leaders in developing strategy and prioritization of compliance initiatives, including regulatory requirements.
  • Support facilities with understanding and implementing E&C Policies.
  • Understand the Code and E&C Policies and promote their concepts and requirements when necessary.
  • Practice and follow the philosophy of the Code and the Company’s Mission and Values Statement.
  • Coordinate the delivery and recordkeeping of required training curriculums, including but not limited to: Code of Conduct, Physician Relationships, Coding, Billing, and HIPAA.
  • Conduct Ethics Line investigations, including preparation of an investigation report for the Corporate E&C Department.
  • Conduct, coordinate and/or support Compliance Process Reviews (CPRs) for facilities within SVG; monitor implementation of corrective action plans resulting from such reviews.
  • Review Internal Audit reports and investigation reports to assure appropriate corrective and preventative actions have been taken.
  • Provide assistance to facility staff and SVG leadership regarding major issues and recommendations from Corporate internal audit and/or internal compliance efforts.
  • Collect and review conflict of interest forms for SVG personnel.
  • Support the Company’s Information Protection initiatives within facilities and collaborate with the Information Security Assurance leaders on information security issues.
  • Know the responsibilities of Facility Privacy Officials (FPOs) and assist both FPOs and ECOs, as necessary, with patient privacy issues.
  • Coordinate training for facility Access Compliance Coordinators (ACCs) and implementation of the Access of Care Program.
  • Coordinate and conduct federal quality reporting obligations for surgery centers.
  • Support and provide guidance on regulatory and licensure obligations of surgery centers.
  • Support SVG revenue cycle operations with regulatory, policy and process guidance.
  • Provide input and feedback regarding policies, procedures and processes, as requested by the Corporate E&C Department.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate E&C Department, Legal and other corporate departments as necessary on ethics and compliance matters.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in health care industry regulatory compliance, coding, billing, internal audit and/or financial management.
  • In-depth knowledge of health care compliance issues, including laws and regulations by various governmental agencies is required.
  • A baccalaureate degree is required, master’s degree in health care administration or business is preferred.
