Responsibilities of a GP in Aesthetic Medicine

  • Patient Consultation & Assessment
  • Take detailed medical and aesthetic history.
  • Assess suitability for aesthetic treatments (e.g., Botox, dermal fillers, skin care).
  • Discuss patient expectations and educate them on realistic outcomes.
  • Treatment Planning
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient goals and clinical indications.
  • Advise on risks, benefits, downtime, and alternatives.
  • Performing Aesthetic Procedures
  • Administer treatments such as:
  • Botulinum toxin (Botox)
  • Dermal fillers
  • Microneedling
  • Chemical peels
  • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
  • Laser/IPL treatments
  • Maintain strict hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Follow-Up & Aftercare
  • Monitor patients post-treatment for complications or side effects.
  • Provide clear aftercare instructions.
  • Be available for follow-up consultations or touch-ups.
  • Medical Ethics & Legal Responsibility
  • Obtain informed consent.
  • Maintain detailed patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with local healthcare regulations and aesthetic practice laws.
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Stay updated on the latest techniques, products, and safety protocols.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and certified training.
  • Business & Clinic Management (if running own practice)
  • Manage clinic operations.
  • Oversee marketing, branding, and patient acquisition ethically.
  • Handle complaints or adverse events professionally.
