About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Document Controller
to join our team within a prestigious engineering consultancy firm. This role is
site-based
, supporting a construction project, and involves overseeing the management, organization, and control of project documentation in line with consultancy and project-specific procedures.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a
consultancy environment
and demonstrate a strong understanding of construction documentation workflows, version control, and industry standards. This is a critical role ensuring that all project documents are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders, thereby supporting efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and manage all incoming and outgoing project documentation, ensuring correct filing, versioning, and distribution in accordance with internal and external procedures.

Set up and monitor document control systems and registers (both electronic and physical) to track project documentation.

Ensure all project documentation complies with quality assurance and project standards.

Liaise with engineering, design, and construction teams to ensure timely submission, review, and approval of documents.

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients to manage document workflows and submittals.

Implement and enforce document control protocols to maintain confidentiality, security, and accessibility.

Support site-based teams with the retrieval, issuance, and logging of documents and drawings.

Maintain comprehensive logs for drawings, transmittals, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence.

Assist in audits and ensure readiness for internal and external quality reviews.

Provide training and support on document control systems and processes as required.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a document control role, preferably within an
engineering consultancy
or construction environment.

Prior experience working
on-site
on construction projects is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced site environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 and document control best practices is an asset.

Diploma or certification in administration, document management, or a related field is desirable.
