About us

Canyon Canines is a small dog hiking business in Cache Valley, UT. Our hiking areas cover Preston and Franklin ID, as well as Newton, Lewiston, Clarkston, Richmond, Smithfield, Hyde Park, North Logan, Logan, Providence, Nibley, Millville, Hyrum, Wellsville, and Mendon UT.

Our goal is to:

-Enhance dog's quality of life

-Provide doggie & hiker friends

-Return dogs home happy, healthy, and tired

-Follow trail etiquette & leave no trace

Do you enjoy taking your dog hiking and want to earn some extra money doing what you already love?

Do you have experience handling dogs off-leash and own a dog-friendly car?

Could you use a few hundred extra dollars a month playing with dogs and being out in nature?

Join our team at Canyon Canines as a dog hiker! You’ll be greeted with wagging tails and happy faces every time you go to work. Plus, you’ll get to exercise while getting paid! We supply all the needed treats, leashes, doggy bags, water jugs, etc.

This job is perfect for someone who LOVES dogs and has experience working with dogs off-leash. We prefer if you have experience training dogs and working with multiple dogs at a time. Extra bonus if you are great at taking photos of dogs.

DAYS: Monday-Friday

HOURS: 8am-12pm (8-9am pick up in your car, 9-11am hiking, 11-12pm dropping off dogs)

(The hours change to 10am-2pm in the winter )

STARTING PAY RATE: $12 per dog for a 2 hour hike. (You will start with 4 dogs/hike).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour

  • Can you easily pass a criminal/background check and do you have a clean driving record?
  • You must have a dog-friendly car for picking up and dropping off dogs. What vehicle do you own? (make, model, year)
  • What city do you live in?
  • Hiking dogs on or off leash can be strenuous and physically demanding. In the winter there will be snow, slush, mud, ice, and terrain that can be more difficult than hiking during other times of the year. Are you physically able to walk/run 2-5 miles with strenuous climbs and descents?
  • Please follow us on instagram: @canyon.canines and message us if you are interested in this position. This will help us go through applicants faster and see who is proactive. We value taking good quality photos of the dogs while hiking. This helps clients feel connected to their dog's experience and see their progress overtime. Do you have a phone that takes quality photos?
  • We are looking for at least a 6 month commitment so you can have a chance to gain trust with the dogs and work with them consistently to help them progress. How long would you be able to commit to working with Canyon Canines? What do you know about your availability into next summer?
  • Tell us about your experience with dogs. How many dogs have you owned? Have you taken them off leash before? How many dogs have you trained? Have you worked with dogs professionally before?
  • Hiking time for the next few months is 8am-12pm. Dog pick up in your car is 8-9am. Time on the trail is 9-11am. Dog drop off is 11-12pm. What days would you be available at this time to work (At least 2 of the days Mon-Fri)?
