Dog Walker - Private On-Leash Walks (Part time)

The opportunity

Sniff and Go is San Francisco’s premier private dog walking company, in business since 2009. We do one thing: individualized, force-free, on-leash walks for single-family homes. No group walks, no punishment, no shortcuts.

We’re a tight-knit team of under 15, and we’ve earned Best Dog Walkers in the Bay (48th Annual Best of the Bay Awards). Our reputation is built on consistency, compassion, and community trust.

We’re hiring a reliable, professional dog walker who takes pride in their work. No prior dog walking experience required. We provide 30 days of paid training covering animal behavior, fear-free handling, body language, and walk structure.

Pay and compensation

• Training pay: $24/hr during your 30-day paid training period.
• After 30 days: $24/hr base pay + pooled tips
• Additional compensation throughout: mileage reimbursed at the full IRS rate ($0.76/mile parking meter reimbursement, paid travel time
• Annual raises based on performance.

Schedule

Shifts Open
Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 12PM (minimum availability)
Monday-Friday, 10 AM-2 PM (minimum availability)

Hours vary based on client scheduling and typically range from 3 to 5 hours per day.

No nights, no weekends, no holidays.

Time Off
Attendance is important to us, so we keep time off structured and predictable for everyone. Here's how it works:

• 2.5 weeks of unpaid holiday closures each year (all major holidays except Juneteenth and Veterans Day, plus a full week covering December 25)
• Up to 15 Scheduled Time Off days (unpaid) per rolling 12 month period
• Option to earn up to 5 additional Scheduled Time Off days through our Coverage Assist Program
• Total of up to 5.5-6.5 weeks off per year

What you’ll do each day

• Drive between 4-6+ client homes across San Francisco
• Walk 1-3 dogs at a time (from the same household) for 15-60 minutes each
• Practice and apply positive reinforcement on every walk
• Navigate hills, city sidewalks, and uneven terrain
• Log walks with GPS tracking apps
• Communicate professionally with clients

What we’re looking for

You don’t need a resume full of dog experience. You do need to be:

• Reliable, punctual, and consistent. Our clients count on you showing up
• Professional in how you communicate and carry yourself
• A quick learner who takes feedback well
• Genuinely fond of dogs and motivated to handle them with care and positive reinforcement

Physical demands and requirements

• Ability to walk 3-5+ miles per day on hills, stairs, and uneven terrain
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
• Reliable, insured vehicle (car, truck, SUV, two-seater, motorcycle, etc…)
• Ability to learn multiple operations apps
• Comfortable being photographed for client updates and social media
• Ability to work in warm, cold, or inconvenient weather conditions
• Must be 18+

Part-time at-will employment. 90-day probation period. Actual hours based on client schedule.
