Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Dog Walker to join our pet care team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and experience in pet handling, dog training, and animal care. This role involves walking dogs of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during outings. The Dog Walker will also provide basic pet care services, foster positive relationships with clients, and contribute to the overall health and happiness of the animals.

Duties

• Walk dogs according to scheduled routes, ensuring safety and adherence to client instructions
• Handle dogs using proper restraint techniques and animal handling skills
• Monitor dogs during walks for signs of distress or health issues
• Provide basic pet care such as feeding, administering medication if necessary, and cleaning up after pets
• Assist with training exercises or behavioral reinforcement as needed
• Maintain clean equipment and ensure all supplies are stocked and in good condition
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding their pets’ needs and behaviors
• Report any concerns or incidents promptly to supervisors or pet owners
• Support additional pet sitting or kennel duties when required

Qualifications

• Prior experience in dog handling, pet sitting, or animal care is preferred
• Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience is a plus
• Experience with veterinary technician or assistant roles, equine experience, or kennel work is advantageous
• Strong animal handling skills and familiarity with animal restraint methods
• Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with clients
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., lifting pets or supplies)
• Compassionate attitude toward animals with patience and attentiveness
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and walk long distances during shifts
