Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

Tails On Trails LLC is Hiring Dog Walkers and Cat Sitters for the start of the Spring adoption season!

Tails On Trails LLC is looking for long term, exceptional, and passionate dog walkers and cat sitters to join our growing team Jersey City. If you truly love animals and take pride in providing dependable, high quality care, you will feel right at home with us. We are a supportive and professional team that values consistency, trust, and genuine connection with the pets entrusted to us. This is not a gig style role. Our clients rely on us regularly, which means you will build real professional relationships, follow consistent routines, and become a familiar and trusted part of each pet’s life.

Main Dog Walking Responsibilities

• Providing safe, structured, and engaging walks

• Checking food (or provide feeding, if required) and changing water after each visit to ensure pets’ needs are met

• Properly fitting and handling for safety various harnesses, collars, and leashes

• Monitoring equipment for safety and wear

• Following all safety standards outlined in the Tails On Trails Walker Manual

Main Cat Sitting Responsibilities

• Following detailed feeding and care instructions

• Cleaning litter boxes, bowls, and surrounding feeding and litter box areas

• Providing gentle and attentive care tailored to each cat’s personality

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful home environment

Our Standard

We are a year-round team, which means working through sunny, warm days, rainy afternoons, and snowy winters while remaining prepared, on-time, responsible, and focused on safety, and connection with pets entrusted to us. We are looking for individuals who love animals and work well both individually and part of a team, who are reliable and punctual, warm and caring, professional, active and comfortable working outdoors, detail oriented, positive, team focused, and communicative.

Required Qualifications

• At least one year of professional animal care experience

• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments

• Must live within 15 to 30 minutes of Downtown Jersey City and be able to commute

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Must have reliable transportation such as public transit, car, Uber/Lyft, e-bike, bike, e-scooter, scooter, or skateboard, etc.

• Strong communication and exceptional customer service skills

• Self motivated and able to work independently

• A dependable team player willing to support others when needed

• Open to feedback, growth, and continuous learning

• Detail oriented with strong time management skills

• Smartphone with email access and a data plan with no prepaid plans

• Prepared and able to work in all weather conditions

• Able to provide references and complete an I 9 form

• Ready to start training and working as soon as possible

• Available to work weekends, holidays, and holiday weekends
