Family Service Association of Howard County is hiring a Full Time Domestic Violence Program Case Manager. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Program Manager. This position will provide case management services to shelter residents and non-residents (including children). They will be responsible for assisting victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault to ensure that their needs are met, referrals are provided, and goals are established. Further they will provide community education and presentations and facilitate on-site support groups for adults and children’s programming.
Selected Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete adult and/or children’s intakes with all new clients (children that are six years or older, with parent’s permission). This is to be accomplished within 72 hours of intake, exit paper work also to be completed within 72 hours.
- Complete a needs assessment, assist with establishing goals in case management plan, and follow up on progress and referrals issued.
- Maintain case notes, data collection and ensure data quality of clients served.
- Meet with all adult clients on a daily basis until a more liberal schedule is appropriate.
- Assist clients in completing court applications and responding to legal actions as needed. Accompany clients to legal appointments and court under the direction of the Program Manager.
- Advocate with other agencies on behalf of client(s).
- Assist Advocates as needed during early evening shifts.
- Meet with Outreach Clients as needed/requested.
- Facilitate a weekly support group for clients. This may be offered more often if needed or requested.
- Facilitate Children’s Activities; these are to be age appropriate, planned for after school hours & weekends and all-inclusive (if applicable).
- Provide community education and presentations about domestic violence, sexual assault and/or other assigned topics.
- Assist parents in positive behavior and discipline methods.
- Will be responsible for advocating between the parents and the child’s school system (when applicable).
- Work with the Program Director to establish school programs within the area schools. These may include from first grade through college level programs and may be under the direction of the Program Director.
- Assist the Sexual Assault Victim’s Advocate to Create a Sexual Assault Response Team.
- Assist as needed with the facilitation of community rape prevention and education workshops and presentations
- This position may require a schedule of day time and evening shifts and one weekend per month.
- Participate in the on call rotation.
Qualifications include:
- Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience: Two years minimum of social work, education, and/or domestic violence experience is preferred.
- Skills / Abilities:
- Organizational skills;
- Must understand family dynamics and community resources;
- Must possess excellent writing, computer, and communication skills; must possess experience in Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn other software programs currently in use;
- Ability to speak, read, and write English;
- Able to work autonomously;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
o Ability to follow oral and written instruction;
- Working knowledge of safety and security practices and procedures
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution;
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, volunteers and public;
- Have ability to talk in front of large groups / able to present community education presentations;
- Demonstrates emotional maturity and good judgment and
- Ability to handle stressful situations;
- Training requirements and timelines:
- First Aid, Infant/Adult CPR, and Universal Precautions. (These may be obtained within first three months of employment.)
- Addend and complete annual Client Track Data Standards training.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License, have a car for full-time business use and maintain State of Indiana minimum insurance coverage.
- Must not have a history of disqualifying criminal convictions and must pass all required background checks including:
- DCS Background Check;
- Fingerprinting;
- Local Background Check;
- Sex Offender Background Check;
- Must be free of contagious illness and conditions and
- Pass a TB Test.
