Donor Transporter

  • The ideal candidate for the Donor Transporter role should have experience in an emergency services capacity. This includes professions such as police officers, firefighter, military, or EMS.
  • Recommended that the candidate(s) have knowledge of the below certifications / training (Certifications are not required to be up to date but it is encouraged)
    • EVOC - Emergency Vehicle Operator Course
    • State Issued Defensive Driving
    • PASS - Passenger Assistance, Safety, and Sensitivity
    • BLS - Basic Life Saving
  • Driving organs, medical equipment, and staff members to and from donor hospitals throughout the respective community areas and the STA designated service area.
  • Transporting donor blood specimens, samples and/or organs to and from the airport or appropriate hospitals and laboratories. It is expected that the driver is on time, handles the specimen with the utmost care, and delivers to the proper delivery location.
  • Transporting deceased patients from hospitals and morgues to our facility for recovery, and from our center to funeral homes within the designated service area.
  • Working closely with both internal team members and external clients, ensuring safe and efficient transportation
  • The driver will be expected to respond to the logistics coordinator within no more than 15 minutes if contacted for job functions and duties during working hours.
  • Plans and follows the most efficient routes to travel to/from designated destinations.
  • Assisting with the loading and unloading of supplies as necessary for STA staff, such as infusion pumps and medical equipment up to 70lbs.
  • Responsible for delivery of the vehicles for scheduled/periodic maintenance as directed by management.
  • The driver will be expected to report to the Logistics Coordinator for day-to-day operations.
  • The driver will be expected to obey all traffics laws and operate all vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Conducts and documents vehicle inspection prior to every case with results provided to the Logistics Coordinator.
  • Ensures that general vehicle maintenance is completed including the completion of the vehicle maintenance checklist, cleaning (inside and outside) of vehicles and ensuring vehicles have been fully refueled following use.
  • Arrives on time for attending department meetings, staff meetings, workshops, and other STA activities.
  • Performs other transportation duties as assigned by management.
  • Records information from pick-ups and deliveries as appropriate such as dates, times, and parcel verification.
  • Maintains documentation according to STA standards including pre / post trip inspections, chain of custody for donors, and other documentation assigned by leadership.

Education

Required
  • High School or better in Logistics /Supply Chain Management

Licenses & Certifications
