We are looking for a Product Owner/Software Engineer who is passionate about user research and internal customer advocacy to be a technical Product Owner who helps shape the tools that empower our creative teams.

With a focus on user research, you will be the voice of our internal users - animators, designers, and production staff - ensuring their needs are deeply understood and reflected in the tools and workflows we build. You will work closely with cross-functional technical teams to deliver intuitive, high-impact solutions that enhance creative productivity and collaboration.

Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description


“What would you say you do here?”

Software Product Ownership

  • Define and prioritize product backlogs based on user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high- quality features.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and reviews in an Agile environment.

Requirements Development - User Research & Discovery

  • Conduct interviews, surveys, and observational studies with internal users to uncover pain points and opportunities.
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable product requirements.
  • Build empathy-driven user personas and journey maps to guide product decisions.
  • Software Design & Layout
  • Partner with technical leadership to validate feasibility of solutions.
  • Draft low and high fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma.
  • Ensure design consistency and usability across internal applications.
  • Manage and maintain the DreamWorks design language system.

Internal Customer Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal creative teams and the product development team.
  • Facilitate feedback loops and ensure continuous alignment with user expectations.
  • Champion a culture of user-centered design and iterative improvement.

Qualifications


“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner, UX Researcher, or similar role in a creative or tech-driven environment
  • Experience working closely with UX design teams and backend development teams
  • Experience in Javascript, HTML and CSS
  • Proficiency in modern web application features and design goals (e.g. Web Components, Responsive Design, and Progressive Applications)
  • Experience working with Jira or other similar project tracking software
  • Strong background in user research methodologies and synthesizing insights into product strategy
  • Experience working with internal customers or enterprise users, ideally in a creative industry
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Passion for animation, storytelling, or creative production is a big plus!

  • Familiarity with Figma and collaborative design workflows
  • Production experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industry
  • Experience in animation, VFX, or game development pipelines

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.

Salary range: $105,000 - $145,000
