Position Summary:
The Driller Locator specializes in locating the drill head for drilling operations, ensuring the drill follows the planned path and avoids underground obstacles.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation:
- Operate electronic tracking systems to monitor the drill head locations.
- Perform bore planning, setup, and pilot bore operations in accordance with job specifications and blueprints.
- Read utility locates, plans, and job maps to guide bore paths and avoid underground conflicts.
- Assist with other drilling tasks when not locating such as potholing utilities, setting vaults and restoration.
Site Preparation and Safety
- Assist with job site preparation and verifying existing utilities.
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all OSHA, local, and company safety protocols.
- Ensure equipment is operated and maintained according to manufacturer specifications and best practices.
- Maintain and accurately calibrate locating equipment.
Teamwork and Communication
- Collaborate with ground crew, utility locators, and supervisors to coordinate project execution.
- Clear and constant communication with the driller while boring.
- Maintain detailed and accurate daily job logs and project documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of experience operating HDD equipment in underground utility installation.
- Working knowledge of underground construction practices and equipment maintenance.
- CDL Class A license with clean driving record or willing to retain one.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel to job sites as required.
Pay: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
