Drilling Subject Matter Expert (SME)

We are seeking an experienced Drilling Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an SPS Project on a drillship operating in Turkey.

Location: Drillship – Turkey

Rotation: 6 weeks on / 4 weeks off


The Drilling SME will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of drilling related maintenance, inspection, and commissioning activities throughout the SPS scope.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support SPS maintenance planning and equipment requirements
  • Develop detailed maintenance plans and ensure alignment with project schedules (Gantt / WBS)
  • Review and validate technical documentation, drawings, manuals, and certification records
  • Develop maintenance work instructions and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform equipment criticality analysis and risk assessments
  • Prepare high-level and detailed Scope of Work (SOW) for drilling-related activities
  • Coordinate closely with operations, planning, supply chain, and QHSE teams
  • Support procurement activities and issue material and service requisitions
  • Review of OEM Product Information Bulletins (PIBs)
  • Support and deliver training to local personnel as required
  • Address quality and safety matters and escalate issues to QHSE


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3–7 years of offshore drilling experience, preferably in SPS and/or reactivation projects
  • Strong experience on offshore drilling units (drillship or semi-submersible)
  • Solid background in drilling systems, equipment, and associated maintenance scopes
  • Experience in maintenance planning, commissioning, and reactivation activities


Additional Requirements

  • Familiarity with class society requirements and flag state regulations applicable to drilling units
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary offshore teams and field environments
  • Strong understanding of HSE, operational, and regulatory requirements
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Availability for rotational offshore assignments
