Job Summary
The Driver is responsible for safely driving passengers and/or transporting goods as assigned, maintaining vehicle condition, complying with Bahraini traffic and labor laws, and providing reliable and professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive the company/personal vehicle to transport staff, clients, visitors, or goods to and from locations as scheduled.
- Plan routes to avoid delays and ensure timely arrival.
- Perform daily / regular checks on vehicle (tires, oil, brakes, lights, fluids) to ensure roadworthiness.
- Keep the vehicle clean (interior and exterior) and ensure general maintenance (servicing, oil change, inspections) are done on schedule.
- Monitor fuel consumption; maintain records of fuel, mileage, repairs, and other expenses.
- Adhere to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Report any accidents, mechanical issues, delays, or violations immediately to management.
- Assist with loading/unloading of items when required.
- Assist with changing vehicle documents where needed (insurance, registration) and ensure all legal documents are valid.
- Maintain good conduct, professionalism, and privacy/confidentiality, especially if transporting clients or VIPs.
- May perform other related duties as assigned by the employer.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Bahraini driving license appropriate for the type of vehicle you’ll be driving.
- Clean driving record (no serious traffic violations).
- Minimum years of experience (commonly 1‑3 years for light / personal driver roles; more for heavy vehicles).
- Good knowledge of Bahrain’s roads, locations, traffic rules, and regulations.
- Basic mechanical awareness for identifying faults or early warning signs.
- Good communication skills; ability to follow instructions and directions.
- Reliability, punctuality, integrity, and professional appearance.
- Physical fitness: ability to handle long drives and possibly help with lifting or carrying loads.
- Flexibility to work different hours, including sometimes outside usual office hours / weekends, if required.
Legal / Labour Law Considerations (Bahrain)
- Must have legal work permit / residency status.
- Employment contract should comply with Bahraini labour law: specify salary, working hours, leave, overtime, benefits.
- Working hours, rest periods, overtime pay etc., must be as per Bahrain labour regulations.
- All vehicle documents (license, registration, insurance) must be valid and in compliance with Bahraini authorities.
- Health & safety standards to be observed; reporting of accidents/incidents as required by law.
- Employer must provide any mandated benefits (medical, insurance, etc.) as per law or contract.
Optional / Preferred
- Experience with GPS, navigation tools, or knowledge of alternate routes.
- Fluency in Arabic and/or English.
- Defensive driving training or certification.
- Experience driving high-end or luxury vehicles (if applicable).
- Experience with VIP or client service.
