Driver

Position Summary:

The Driver is responsible for enhancing an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community by driving a company vehicle. The Driver will assist with activities of daily living if needed and encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. This role is responsible for providing support to an individual with a disability at home and community places. Additionally, a driver will also act as an advocate for an individual with a disability in communicating their needs, self-expression, and goals. You must have or be able to possess a Chauffeur’s license or ability to obtain one within two weeks of hire and pass a physical.

Scheduled Hours:

Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday (7:00am-9:00am, then 1:30-3:00pm).

Position Duties:

• Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all equipment is in safe and operable condition.
• Participate in all training and orientation sessions as directed.
• Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and turned in timely, neatly, and accurately.
• Report any problems arising between the provider and the individual and/or family members.
• Treat all information concerning the individual and/or their family as confidential.
• Responsible to provide care to the individual as it pertains to the “Plan of Care.”
• Assist in the formulating of Service Plans/Plan of Care, etc. for each individual in his/her charge by documenting progress or significant problems.
• Advocate for services to enhance consumer’s life.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned by the Director of Transportation and Maintenance.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma/G.E.D (preferred)

Chauffeur’s License (required)

Minimum of 1 year professional or personal experience supporting individuals with disabilities.

Requirements:

· Valid Louisiana Driver’s License

· Valid auto insurance in your name.

· Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and complete specialized forms.

· First Aid Certification - Class available upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

· Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job as described including walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting, and reaching overhead.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

· Must be able to safely lift, transport, and transfer individuals including but not limited to lifting and transferring in and out of a vehicle, bed, or wheelchair.

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
