About the Role:
Bee Line is seeking a Driving Lead to support our daily trucking operations by providing strong leadership, coordination, and communication between drivers, dispatch, and fleet management. This hands-on role is key to maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant transportation activities while fostering a positive and professional driving culture.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as the primary liaison between drivers and dispatch.
Oversee daily driver assignments, scheduling, and route coordination.
Monitor driver performance to ensure adherence to FMCSA and DOT safety regulations.
Assist drivers with load details, delivery instructions, and issue resolution.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip compliance checks and verify documentation accuracy.
Support onboarding, mentoring, and continuous training for new and current drivers.
Review hours-of-service logs, ELD compliance, and vehicle inspection reports.
Communicate any service delays, safety concerns, or equipment issues to management promptly.
Use required PPE to safely inspect and climb on top of tankers.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
Participate in accident or incident investigations and corrective action follow-up.
Assist the Fleet Manager with maintaining driver files, certifications, and performance records.
Ensure dress code compliance at Bee Line and customer sites.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in efficiency and safety.
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or GED preferred; additional training in transportation or logistics preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience in the trucking industry.
Valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record.
Prior leadership, training, or dispatch experience a plus.
Strong understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with ELD systems, dispatch software, and basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb in/out of trucks and trailers.
Ability to climb up to 12 ft. to secure covers on trailers.
Ability to sit, stand, climb, and drive for extended periods.
Comfortable working outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a transportation and yard environment with daily interaction among drivers, dispatch, and maintenance teams. Safety, efficiency, and professionalism are always top priorities.
