Position Overview: As a Driver Leader/Driver Manager, you will be part of a growing team that is focused on driving the long term growth of our business. You will work closely with your drivers to ensure timely delivery of our freight according to contract requirements, while focusing on driver development initiatives that support the Safety aspect of Navajo Express and promoting Retention Goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively work to build relationships with Drivers, support and recognize excellent performance while assisting team in achieving the organization's objectives.
  • Develop strategies and sponsor key initiatives to foster a culture of positive driver support and improve driver retention. May assist in the onboarding of new drivers.
  • Evaluate Driver satisfaction, retention and turnover; provide necessary tools to effectively perform position responsibilities to assist in increasing Driver retention and reducing overall turnover.
  • Dispatch Drivers to meet assigned routes and on time deliveries
  • Effectively communicate instructions to Drivers
  • Perform regular assessments to ensure consistent improvement on metrics that impact driver safety and retention.
  • Review various reporting on driver safety, and directs activities to effect positive safety outcomes while actively coaching Driving Associates to ensure that the terminal meets company safety expectations.
  • Promotes good relations with internal and external customers by coaching and supporting employees on how to find the best solution to safety problems.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze information on breakdowns and procedures, and develop solutions to facilitate on-time completion of equipment services within the shop.
  • Listen to Drivers needs/concerns and be able to offer up solutions to problems as they arise
  • Ability to assist in time management of the Driver and offer IDLE and Fuel Solutions
  • Ability to prioritize and then reprioritize as needs/routes change
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance issues with Maintenance department as needed
  • Ensure DOT Compliance is maintained throughout the course of the route
  • Gather, analyze and interpret retention data for the purpose of identifying best course of action for terminal leadership to decrease turnover.
  • Counsel driving associates on high risk behaviors including items on risk analysis scoring. Consult and recommend corrective action; up to and including whether to terminate driver's employment. Influence/Coach/Manage all Drivers.
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications:

Four (4) to Ten (10) years experience in operations filed and/or safety in the trucking industry is required.

Previous experience as a truck driver is preferred.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite- Outlook, excel, word.

Ability to learn and adapt to new and existing computer programs (AS400 experience is preferred. Net graffix, Hours of Service, etc.)

Must possess excellent written and communication skills

Customer Service must be top notch and have a sense of urgency to get tasks completed

Ability to stay composed under pressure

Must possess collaborative skills and display strong interpersonal relationship abilities

Balance between verbal and analytical thinking skills

Pay range: $68,000- $70,000 Annual + Monthly Bonus

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Experience:
