Are you a safety-focused, experienced CDL A driver ready for a rewarding regional role? Xylem in Edison, NJ is seeking a reliable professional to join our team as a Driver Technician. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with a strong driving background and mechanical skills—especially those who have worked as diesel mechanics or have experience handling and maintaining trucks and equipment.

Position Highlights:

  • Competitive Pay: $28–$31 per hour (based on experience/skills)

  • We Offer Overtime! 10–15 hours/week typical

  • Routes: Regional, 150 air miles around Edison—home daily, no overnight travel

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am until route completion (may start earlier/later)

  • Freight: Specialized water industry products, pumps, and pipes

  • Equipment: Operate vehicles ranging from F-150 pickups to large tractor trailers (approx. 50% rollback, 35% pickup truck, 15% tractor trailer)

  • Setups & Handling: Assist with delivery setups, loading and unloading of equipment and materials

  • Forklift Operation: Frequent use of forklift for material handling

  • Consistent Home Base: Start and return to Edison for each run

What Will You Do?

  • Safely drive F-150s, rollbacks, and 48’/53’ tractor trailers to transport specialty water treatment products

  • Use forklifts for loading and unloading, both at the warehouse and at delivery sites

  • Assist with equipment set ups, as well as loading/unloading pumps, pipes, and related materials

  • Perform basic mechanical checks and handle minor repairs if required

  • Maintain accurate electronic logs and order documentation

  • Communicate clearly and courteously with internal teams

What Makes You a Great Fit?

  • Required:

    • Valid CDL A and clean driving record

    • 2+ years of professional driving experience (regional/local/OTR)

    • Physically capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing in/out of cabs and trailers

    • Commitment to safety and compliance with DOT/state/federal regulations

  • Preferred Experience:

    • Diesel mechanic or strong mechanical aptitude/experience (mechanics who hold a CDL are highly encouraged to apply!)

    • Previous experience performing basic maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles and equipment

    • Comfortable assisting in physical tasks: setups, loading, and unloading

    • Flexible, team-oriented attitude; clear communication skills
